THROUGHOUT PREGNANCY

Birth preparation

Preparing for birth does not mean having to know everything in advance. It begins with understanding what to expect, discussing your options and finding your own way to prepare.

What does birth preparation include?

Birth preparation brings together your questions about labour, hospital preparation, birth preferences and your partner's support role. With Melike, you can choose which topics to focus on and plan the meeting format, who will attend and your next steps around your needs.

Who is this support for?

Families expecting their first baby, wanting to talk about a previous birth experience or choosing to prepare for birth together with a partner.

What can we explore together?

  • The stages of labour and situations you may encounter
  • Your hospital bag and practical preparations before birth
  • Information about breathing, relaxation, movement and birth positions
  • Birth preferences and questions for your healthcare team
  • The support role of a partner or birth companion
  • The first days after birth and an introduction to breastfeeding

Knowledge makes room for calm.

Our conversations go beyond the day of birth. Recurring questions, everyday life, your support network and expectations for the first days are all part of preparation. We build on what you already know and what you need.

Preparation for you and your partner

We can discuss how your partner can support you at different moments, communication with your healthcare team and privacy preferences. There is no single birth experience you must aim for; there is room for your plan to change.

Your questions before a birth preparation conversation

You can note the three topics you most want to discuss, your planned hospital and who you would like involved. We will talk about the areas to cover, your partner's involvement and any further conversations you may need. Online preparation gives your questions and expectations the same attention.

Istanbul first, with support across Turkey

For private midwife support in Istanbul, share your district and preferred meeting format. Online and in-person options are available across Turkey; availability and travel arrangements outside Istanbul are agreed during an initial conversation. We also discuss which topics can be covered online and which need an in-person assessment.

Before we meet

We clarify your needs, timing and arrangements at first contact. The location and ongoing plan depend on your circumstances. Simply note the questions that matter to you; you are not expected to know everything beforehand.

Questions you may have

At what stage of pregnancy should I get in touch?

We can plan preparation around your needs and the time before your expected birth. A useful starting point is a conversation about your circumstances and expectations.

Can my partner attend?

Yes. Preparing together is encouraged. The meeting format and attendance arrangements are agreed during the initial conversation.

Does this replace my antenatal care?

No. Midwife support does not replace pregnancy monitoring by your doctor or any necessary medical assessment.
